Sketches for Art Class 3

Every Friday in Art Class we take a break from our projects and are required to read an article from an art magazine, fill out a paper about it, and sketch something.
The first picture was inspired by Trey's sun tattoo from the Vampire Academy Bloodlines series (which it obviously doesn't look like, but it still looks pretty cool!) and the second picture is of the moon being shaded by clouds, it was inspired by the way William Joyce draws everything (especially the Man in the Moon) and how I just wanted to use cross-hatching to shade in a picture for once and not have it look crappy
